So I had another root canal this morning and got a prescription for antibiotics and ibuprofen, which was the same thing I got last month. I went to the pharmacy at CVS to fill out the prescription, this time avoiding unnecessary purchases. When I got home and opened the bottles, though, I noticed that something was wrong. The pills were in the wrong bottles--as in last time, the pills in the antibiotic bottle had been in the ibuprofen bottle and vice versa. I knew this, because I did not take all of the "ibuprofen" last time and still had a bunch of "ibuprofen" pills left over. In fact, I had occasionally been taking an "ibuprofen" to combat the massive headache I'd been having (and wondering why it wasn't helping).
I called the pharmacy and discovered that this time, they had gotten it right--it was *last* time that they got it wrong. So after my root canal last month, I had taken 800 mg of ibuprofen three times a day for 7 days, thinking it was an antibiotic. Meanwhile, I was only taking my antibiotics once every few days, when the pain got bad. On top of that, I was going out drinking on some nights when my body was pumped full of 2400 mg of ibuprofen, which incidentally can lead to severe liver damage and stomach bleeding. And apparently, I've been taking antibiotics for my recent headaches.
"Don't worry about it," said CVS pharmacy. No apology, no nothing.
I am trying not to write any more angry letters, but seriously?
