nerd insomnia
I have dreams that I am researching on Lexis and then wake up at 4 am and actually start researching on Lexis.

blackout nostalgia
I went to happy hour at Wurstkuche (a bar actually worth the hype, although I did not try the rattlesnake sausage), but the power was out on that block. This did not deter Wurstkuche in any kind of way. Wait staff walked around lighting candles all over the place, and the bartenders certainly didn't need electricity to serve draft beers. Made me nostalgic for the NYC Black Out of 2003, when the entire city lost power, and everyone was out on the streets, grabbing free beer and turning Manhattan into one giant party. Wurstkuche was almost as cool. Almost.

getting back together
In my limited experience, getting back together with someone is a terrible idea. Why? Because usually you broke up for a really good reason, and you are only getting back together with them to numb the anxiety and uncertainty that you feel when you no longer know what your future is going to look like. Suddenly, you start remembering the good times and think maybe things weren't that bad. Maybe this can work out. Then they do something that reminds you all over again why you can't stand that person anymore.
This is how I felt about L.A. when I came out of a restaurant to find my car keyed. Just when I was thinking about giving you a second chance. Thank you, no really, thanks.

have been away
Sorry, no time these days to make snarky comments on blog. All I do lately is work, run, drink, sleep, work, run, drink, sleep. Yesterday, I put a snag in my pattern and actually did some laundry. On my way to put my clothes in the dryer, I found a helicopter circling my apartment complex and a cop flashing a light from outside the complex and banging the doors. I went to let them in. A dozen cops swarmed the complex and asked me if I had heard any screaming. I said no, and held up my dryer sheets to show them I was just doing my laundry. I take all of this as a sign that I should not break my work, run, drink, sleep pattern, so I won't.

time passes
Now that the months have erased the painful memory of my family's awful visit, I miss them again.

dangerous wishes
All day today, I was wishing you could give people tickets for being assholes (a brilliant way to generate state revenue), but then I realized I would get tickets all the time, so I decided to stop wishing that.
